Production Associate

Job Summary

Production Workers are trained in multiple areas of Delta Controls’ manufacturing department. From time to time, Production Workers may be moved around to perform different roles in different areas of manufacturing, to accommodate the changing demands of the business. Production Workers’ duties will vary depending upon experience, training and ability.

Type: Full-time, Permanent

Compensation: $19,2/hr

This range reflects the minimum and maximum target payable for the base salary of new hires across all Canadian locations. Actual compensation may vary outside this range and is dependent on various factors.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Initiate action to prevent problems within the product, process or quality system.

  • Document problems within the product, process or quality system.

  • Contribute to the solution of problems.

  • Verify the implementation of corrective action.

  • Control further process until the problem is corrected.

  • May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.

Surface Mount (SMT)

  • Perform component verifications.

  • Set up / verify set up of SMT machines according to documentation and examples.

  • Monitor and replenish components consumed by SMT machines.

Visual Inspection – Surface Mount (SMT) and Through-Hole (TH)

  • Perform visual inspection of product to make sure product meets IPC standards.

  • Record defects by serial number in the Delta Production software.

  • Rework faults that fall below standards (solder bridges/missed components/polarity issues).

  • Post solder / hand solder components as required.

  • Physically pass products onto next assembly process.

Depanelizing

  • Separate / depanelize individual product boards from larger panel groupings using the appropriate, approved method for that product (e.g., machine, hand, or jig).

Through-Hole Assembly (TH)

  • Perform component verifications compared to golden samples (physical or photo based).

  • Modify assemblies according to an N.C.R. (Non-Conformance Report).

  • Prepare components for assembling into PCB (bending/trimming raw materials).

  • Set up jobs according to documentation and examples.

Production Test

  • Test product as per documented test procedures.

  • Perform quick visual inspections for missed/incorrect components.

  • Record data from test procedure by serial number in the Delta Production software.

  • Identify product as passed or failed, and move product along assembly process (Repairs/Final Assembly), accordingly.

Final Assembly

  • Request raw materials as needed from the material handling group (electronically).

  • Assemble electronic devices in enclosures as per online instructions (photos and written).

  • Perform final test as required. (Quick power up to validate proper placement of light pipes beneath labels).

  • Label and package final product as per online instructions.

  • Transport finished inventory to stock.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks under time constraints to meet deadlines.

  • Able to work in a team environment.

  • Punctual and has a good attendance.

  • Self-motivated.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Good communication and comprehension skills, both verbal and written, for the purpose of receiving and following instructions, recording and interpreting data, and communicating with fellow employees in person and by email.

  • Able to operate basic hand tools (manual and electric).

  • Able to follow example documentation to meet product requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
