Job summary

We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Product Portfolio Manager to lead our efforts in developing and managing our field devices business within the building automation sector.

This role will be instrumental in driving growth through effective product management, market analysis, and strategic partnerships with our 3rd party products vendors.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in product management, distribution, an understanding of building automation systems, with strong business acumen. You will report to the Chief Operating Officer of Delta Controls.

Work Location: In Office (Currently 3 days a week, subject to change)
City: Surrey
Type: full-time, Permanent
Travel: Business trips will be required, approximately 5%, mainly in North America.
Salary: $100,000 - $120,000
This range reflects the minimum and maximum target payable for the base salary of new hires across all Canadian locations. Actual compensation may vary outside this range and is dependent on various factors.

Duties and responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Work with the strategy, product management and application engineering teams to develop and execute a comprehensive product portfolio strategy aligned with business objectives and market opportunities.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify trends and customer needs within the building automation industry.
  • Define requirements for an innovative product portfolio based on customer requirements, technical feasibility, target verticals markets and business objectives.
  • Driving the development of value-added Product Solutions targeted towards specific applications and markets, overseeing the integration process through to market delivery.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with EQUIP vendors, understand the potential for development of joint initiatives and products.
  • Collaborate with application engineering and product management teams to inform product roadmap decisions and drive the product portfolio ensuring alignment with market demands and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish pricing strategies, manage product pricing models, and conduct profitability analysis to optimize product margins and revenue growth.
  • Lead go-to-market strategies, including product positioning, messaging, and marketing collateral development in collaboration with the marketing team.
  • Monitor and analyze product portfolio performance metrics, sales data, and customer feedback to continuously improve product offerings and enhance market competitiveness.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, customer service and procurement, to ensure cohesive and effective execution of business processes and objectives. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.

  • Quantity of value-added products released.

Required skills and abilities

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions and translate market insights into actionable strategies and initiatives.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
  • Proven experience in account management would be an asset.
  • Proven track record in product distribution and commercialization would be an asset.
  • Technical knowledge on smart buildings, data centers, healthcare, energy management would be an asset.

Minimum qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree an asset.
  • 3 years of experience in product management or product marketing, with a proven track record of successfully managing product portfolios.
